Bookkeeping in Czechia for English-speaking clients: how it works

What an English-speaking entrepreneur actually has to do every month in Czechia, what we need from you, and how documents, reports and filings travel between us.

You do not have to speak Czech, but your filings do

Every return, overview and registration in Czechia is submitted on a Czech form, usually through a data box (datová schránka) that every company and most freelancers have by law. We prepare and submit those forms; you receive a plain-English summary of what was filed, how much to pay, to which account and by when.

What we need from you each month

Sales invoices you issued, purchase invoices and receipts you paid, bank statements in PDF or CSV for every business account, and information about anything unusual — a loan, a new asset, a contract with a foreign client. Send them by e-mail, WhatsApp or a shared drive; there is no need to print or post anything.

The monthly rhythm

We process documents in the first ten days of the following month. If you are a VAT payer, the VAT return and control statement go out by the 25th. You then get a short report: revenue, costs, profit so far, VAT paid, and an estimate of income tax and social contributions for the year, so nothing in the spring is a surprise.

Freelancer (OSVČ) versus limited company (s.r.o.)

A freelancer usually keeps simplified tax evidence — cash in, cash out — while an s.r.o. must keep double-entry accounting and file financial statements in the Commercial Register. The paperwork burden of an s.r.o. is roughly double, which is why we always check whether the legal form still matches your revenue and risk.

Switching accountants mid-year

It is common and unproblematic. We ask your previous accountant for the closing balances, VAT evidence and payroll records, reconcile them, and continue from the next period. You sign one power of attorney so we can act before the tax office and the social security administration.

What it costs

Prices start at 990 CZK per month for a freelancer with up to 20 documents. All prices on our site are without VAT and we are not VAT payers, so the listed amount is the final one.
