Data Boxes for Entrepreneurs: Obligations and Risks of Inaction

The data box (datová schránka) is now the state's primary communication channel. We explain the fiction of delivery and why an unmonitored data box can be your most expensive mistake of the year.

Fiction of Delivery

A message is legally deemed delivered after 10 days, even if you do not log in. Deadlines to respond to Finanční úřad (Czech Tax Office) therefore start running regardless of whether you have actually read the message.

Mandatory Electronic Filings

An entrepreneur with an established data box must submit tax returns electronically. Paper submissions are considered defective and carry the risk of a fine.

How We Handle This for Our Clients

With the client's consent, we monitor their data box and respond to incoming communications before any statutory deadline expires. This means clients never have to worry, even when away on holiday.
