The flat-rate tax regime reduces administrative burden to a minimum, but for some sole traders it leads to unnecessarily high contributions. Calculate your figures before registering.

Eligibility criteria for the regime

An OSVČ (sole trader / self-employed person) can opt into the flat-rate tax regime if their income does not exceed the statutory threshold, they are not a VAT payer, have no employment income exceeding the statutory limit, and register by 10 January.

When the flat-rate tax pays off

It is worthwhile for entrepreneurs with minimal expenses and no entitlement to tax credits or tax relief. You primarily save time – a single monthly payment and no tax returns or annual social and health insurance overviews.

When the flat-rate tax is disadvantageous

A parent of two children who would otherwise claim a child tax bonus, or an entrepreneur with high actual expenses, will usually lose out under the flat-rate regime. In such cases, standard taxation is recommended.
