An audit from the tax authority does not have to be a nightmare. We explain what your rights are, which supporting documents to prepare, and what pitfalls to avoid when communicating with the tax administrator.

A notice to eliminate doubts is not yet a full tax audit

Most entrepreneurs first encounter a formal notice issued under Section 89 of the Tax Code (daňový řád). You must respond within the specified statutory deadline; otherwise, the Finanční úřad (Czech Tax Office) may assess your tax liability using alternative determination tools (pomůcky).

Prepare supporting documents and a factual explanation

Key documents include invoices, contracts, delivery notes, and proof of payment. For larger expenses, photographic evidence or email communication proving that the performance actually took place is also very helpful.

Do not communicate with the tax office alone and unprepared

Every statement you make becomes an official part of the administrative file. We represent clients during audits, prepare formal responses, and involve a certified tax advisor in complex cases.
