Hiring Your First Employee? A Checklist of All Legal Obligations
· 3 min read

Employment contracts, initial medical examinations, authority registrations, GDPR, and occupational health and safety (BOZP). A complete checklist of the steps you must complete within eight days of their start date.
Before the Start Date
Prepare the employment contract containing all mandatory statutory particulars, arrange an initial occupational medical examination, and inform the employee in writing about the terms and conditions of their employment.
Within Eight Days of the Start Date
You must register the employee with the ČSSZ (Czech Social Security Administration) and their respective public health insurance company. Any delay carries fines and, in the event of a workplace injury, severe legal consequences.
Ongoing Obligations
Maintaining payroll records, tracking attendance and annual leave, conducting regular BOZP (health and safety) training, and archiving statutory documents. We manage this entire administrative agenda for our clients.
