How Much Will I Pay in Flat-Rate Tax in 2026?
· 3 min read

The flat-rate tax regime (paušální daň) involves a single monthly payment instead of paying income tax, social security, and health insurance separately. Here are the amounts for 2026 and the thresholds where the regime pays off.
Quick take
- Band 1 costs CZK 9,162 per month (retroactively reduced from CZK 9,984 as of 1 July 2026).
- Band 2 costs CZK 16,745 and Band 3 costs CZK 27,139 per month.
- Entry is possible for annual income up to CZK 2,000,000 and only for non-VAT payers.
- The entry notification must be submitted by 10 January; this deadline cannot be waived.
What is included in the flat-rate advance payment
A single monthly payment covers personal income tax, social security, and health insurance. No separate payments are sent to the OSSZ (Czech Social Security Administration) or your health insurance company, and you do not need to file an annual tax return or social/health insurance overviews. The tax portion is purely nominal (CZK 100 in Band 1), with insurance contributions comprising the vast majority.
Bands for 2026
Placement into a specific band is determined by both the level and structure of your income.
| Band | Monthly amount | Annual income |
|---|---|---|
| Band 1 | CZK 9,162 | Up to CZK 1,000,000; up to CZK 2,000,000 if qualifying for higher 60/80% expense ratios |
| Band 2 | CZK 16,745 | Up to CZK 1,500,000; up to CZK 2,000,000 if 75% of income qualifies for 60/80% expense ratios |
| Band 3 | CZK 27,139 | Up to CZK 2,000,000 without additional conditions |
When the flat-rate tax pays off
Simply put: the higher your profit and the fewer tax reliefs and deductions you claim, the more likely the flat-rate regime will be advantageous. Conversely, it is not worthwhile if you claim tax credits for children, a non-working spouse, mortgage interest deductions, or have low profits — as you forfeit all tax credits and deductions under the flat-rate regime. The calculator below compares the flat-rate regime with standard taxation using lump-sum expenses.
Most common reasons for disqualification from the regime
You will fall out of the flat-rate regime if you register for VAT, exceed annual income of CZK 2,000,000, or start an activity that is ineligible for the regime. In such cases, you must subsequently file standard annual tax returns and social and health insurance overviews for the entire year.
What to do now
- 1Estimate your annual income and activity structure to determine your band.
- 2Compare the flat-rate regime with standard taxation in the calculator.
- 3If you wish to enter the regime, submit the notification by 10 January and set up a standing order due by the 20th day of the month.
When to call an accountant
If you are considering registering for VAT, have fluctuating income close to band thresholds, or combine self-employment with regular employment.
Frequently asked questions
- Can I join the flat-rate tax regime during the year?
- Only upon commencing self-employment, and strictly within 20 days of starting. Otherwise, the standard deadline of 10 January applies.
- Do I file a tax return in the flat-rate regime?
- No, provided you meet the conditions throughout the entire year and have no other taxable income above the statutory limit.
- What if I miss a monthly advance payment?
- Pay the advance as soon as possible; late payment interest will accrue, but a late payment alone generally does not terminate your participation in the regime.
