Doing Business in Czechia as a Foreigner: Accounting, VAT, and Obligations Step by Step
· 3 min read

A foreign owner of a Czech company faces different challenges than a local entrepreneur. We summarise the key areas where issues arise most frequently.
Registered Office, Managing Director, and Data Box
Every Czech company requires a registered office with the property owner's consent and a functioning datová schránka (electronic data box). Delivery of official communications to a data box is legally effective even if the message has not been opened.
Ultimate Beneficial Owner and the Register
Registering the ultimate beneficial owner (UBO) in the Evidenci skutečných majitelů (Register of Beneficial Owners) is mandatory; failure to do so can prevent dividend payouts and block participation in public tenders.
Communication in English
We provide foreign clients with reports and explanations in English, whilst all official submissions to authorities are conducted in Czech in accordance with Czech legislation.
